Gonorrhea is a STD's cause by the bacteria known as Neisseria gonorrhoeae. This bacterium can infect the genital tract, mouth, and rectum of both men and women.

For women, gonorrhea first infects that opening to the uterus and the cervix. The bacteria can then spread into the uterus and fallopian tubes resulting to PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). |
The first sign of symptoms usually appears within 2-10 days after sexual contact with an infected partner.
