There was a myth about spermicides with nonoxynol-9 could help to prevent STD's much like they help to prevent pregnancy from happening. It is said that spermicide with nonoxynol-9 works by damaging the organisms that causes the disease. As we said this is only a myth.

So when you and your partner decide to use any sex-related products such as lubricants and condoms, but sure to check the ingredients. Some brands of these products may contain nonoxynol-9. If you are unsure if your product or any other products contains nonxynol-9 ask your pharmacist or doctor before using it.
